We spent a week at Alpin Penzion in March 2013. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was clean, comfortable, and had what you'd expect from a hotel. It's also very well placed for the city, close to the metro. Breakfast was a pretty minimal buffet, but enough, and we really liked the dinner menu. The bathroom was the awkward part: there was no shower curtain and no sink, so showering without getting water all over the bathroom took some effort.

There were lots of little drawbacks, and the beds weren't comfortable. The food downstairs, though, was really delicious.

The restaurant food was good and the prices were quite reasonable. My room had its own kitchen, refrigerator, and TV. It's a quiet, cozy hotel in a handy spot, about five minutes from both the metro and the trams, without the constant bustle of Prague 1. It's a three-star hotel.

The buffet breakfast was varied and tasty, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke excellent English. Nearby, there are supermarkets, restaurants, and bars. I especially recommend U Vodoucha, the beerhouse about 200 meters away, whose name means Water Spiders. We rented a clean, three-bed apartment with two rooms, a bathroom, a toilet, and a small kitchen with a fridge, microwave, and a few basic utensils. There's Wi-Fi in the rooms and an internet-connected computer in the lobby. The place is in a quiet, beautiful part of Prague at the foot of the Žižkov television tower. Jiříz Poděbrad station on subway line A is a five-minute walk away, and the city center takes about 15 minutes to reach from there.

We stopped in for an hour to rest. The staff were friendly, the prices reasonable, and the seating area pleasant.
