Boat Hotel Matylda

The restaurant has been going for more than 20 years and still has its spark. The food is excellent, the wine list outstanding, and the staff very friendly. I always enjoy coming back to Matylda. It's a lovely spot to eat and talk while looking across the Vltava at Prague Castle and Petřín. Each visit feels special again.

Renata made a lasting difference to my stay. Traveling to a new city for a holiday, I felt welcome and at ease right away, which meant a lot to me. I've stayed in plenty of hotels in different cities, and she's one of the most outstanding people I've met in hospitality. Her service was consistently warm, thoughtful, attentive and genuinely caring. She knows the city well and was always willing to help. Along with the great room and location, her care went far beyond what I expected. She's a real asset to the hotel, and I sincerely hope her dedication and talent are recognized and rewarded.

The staff were friendly, but the prices and portions just don't make sense together: the portions are tiny and the prices very high. The taste was disappointing too. The fish was good, though the octopus and calamari were so rubbery they were almost impossible to chew.

We loved our three-night stay. The Botel is well placed for walking to many city attractions, yet it was very quiet at night. The rooms are small and storage is limited, but it suited a long weekend. The air conditioner worked well, and the beds were comfortable and a decent size. The restaurant was outstanding, every bit as good as places with bigger reputations and higher prices. The staff were amazing and worked hard to fit our large group in. Ladislav (I think the head waiter?) deserves a special mention: efficient, funny, and very knowledgeable about local wine. He made our stay extra special. We enjoyed our first dinner so much that we ate there again. Book ahead to avoid disappointment!
