Chili Hostel

The private room was pretty nice and clean, and about 25 for the night felt like a good deal. It had three twin beds, though they weren’t very comfortable. Some staff were really friendly, while others weren’t as helpful. The bathrooms weren’t as clean as I’d hoped, and the kitchen was an absolute mess. You put down a deposit to get a kitchen key, but when I went in there were flies everywhere, dirty towels and plates, and no clean sponges. It was very dark, too. I ended up buying food at the supermarket to make sandwiches because I didn’t want to clean up someone else’s mess as well as my own. I was disappointed.

Beds were comfortable and the shower was great, and the location is really nice. The hotel is quite cheap, which showed in the room: it was very dark, the bathroom was tiny, and it wasn’t perfectly clean. I’ve seen much better rooms, probably for more money, but I’d go back without a problem.

The location is the only good thing about this hostel, and it doesn’t make up for the problems. I planned to stay four nights but left after the first one. Bed bugs bit me and caused an allergic reaction, so I lost one of my days in Prague going to the hospital. The kitchen was dirty and barely had anything, just one pot, I think. One bed had a white stain, and the pillows and sheets hadn’t been replaced with washed ones for new guests. Neither of the two plugs by my bed worked. The shower floor was brown and covered in hair. I complained at reception, mainly about the bed bugs, but none of the receptionists cared. They acted like this was normal.

Everything worth seeing is easy to reach on foot. The astronomical clock and old city hall are about a 20-minute walk away, so I barely used the 3 day train ticket I bought, only twice. The staff are welcoming and nice, and beautiful too. I think I have a crush on one of them, so I’ll have to come back. I enjoyed my stay.
