The room was unsanitary, with ripped towels and a shower head that didn’t work, and breakfast was inedible. The online photos bear no resemblance to what we found. Even the receptionist acknowledged that when we checked in. Save yourself the disappointment and health risk and choose somewhere else. Not worth even one star.

The hotel itself was okay, and the room was comfortable, warm and quiet at night. But when I came back one afternoon, the door was standing wide open, even though I’d left early that morning. Apparently a room cleaner had left it that way. The receptionist only said he’d contact the cleaners. The young man at reception didn’t apologize, just kept asking whether anything had been stolen. Thankfully, nothing was. The service earns the one star. The blonde lady who checked us in didn’t even say hello or welcome us. I can live with someone not wanting to do their job, since I feel that way myself sometimes, but leaving a room open is a different matter. My expectations were already low, and they managed to go lower.

I booked through Booking.com at City Central De Luxe Hotel, Sokolska 21, Prague, Czech Republic. When I arrived, the room was uncomfortable, poorly ventilated and unsuitable to stay in. I told reception right away, but staff wouldn’t help or give me confirmation of my departure. I also emailed the hotel twice and got no response. I couldn’t stay in those conditions, so that same night I booked another hotel, A1 Royal Plaza. Even though I explained the situation clearly and had proof, the hotel refused a refund, and Booking.com didn’t resolve the issue. I’m very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this hotel to other travelers.

We slept well because the beds were neither too soft nor too hard. The room was spacious enough, and the bathroom was clean and maintained well. By the second day, the temperature was comfortable. But the first day was extremely hot and the room was too, with broken air conditioning. We asked about it and staff simply confirmed it wasn’t working. The fan was broken as well, and they didn’t provide another one. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, which unfortunately seems to be the norm in Prague. They should think seriously about how to make guests want to return. The shower floor was damaged, the place was very noisy, and earplugs were definitely needed. There was also trash on the floor when we arrived.
