EA Embassy Prague Hotel

We were so worn out that we changed our plans and came home early. The room was noisy day and night, with cars, motorbikes and people outside, and the hotel is surrounded by major roads. We were also just two or three steps from the lift, so we heard it every time the doors opened and closed. When booking through Agoda, we asked for a quiet room away from the lift. I don't think management or reception checked or cared about that preference. I used to work at a hotel front desk in London, and I know staff should review room requests and allocate rooms accordingly where possible to improve guest satisfaction. The room was old and very dirty. The table was dusty and the corners were dirty, and I didn't want to touch anything. I was glad I'd brought slippers. We used our own soap and towels, and didn't shower. Reception staff were unsmiling and didn't make us feel welcome. At breakfast nobody greeted us or made eye contact; they just cleared old dishes and checked the food without a smile. I've stayed in about ten hotels from two to five stars, and this was the worst experience. I can't recommend it, especially because of the noise and dirty room.

The hotel was warm, the room was clean, and the bathroom had heated floors. The restaurant was great, with lots of food choices that were replenished quickly, and attentive, hardworking staff. We didn't have slippers or a bidet shower in the room. The main problem was receptionist Jacob. I arrived early only to leave my luggage until the official check-in time, without asking for an early check-in, but he offered one for an extra fee. When a hotel offers early check-in proactively and has rooms available, I think it should usually be a complimentary gesture. He then said he'd check the room before handing me the keys. It smelled strongly of smoke and was impossible to stay in, so it seemed he had inspected it and still assigned it to me. This was on New Year's Eve, with the room costing over €600. After a long day, I had to go back downstairs with my luggage to sort it out. They eventually changed the room, but the mood and experience were badly spoiled. Apart from this, the hotel is good, but that kind of reception behavior isn't acceptable at this price or for a hotel in this category.

Our room was a beautiful, clean one at an average price. There are different room types, and the one we picked worked well. They cleaned every day during our four-night stay and topped up the coffee and toilet paper daily. Breakfast was good, and all the staff spoke English, so communication was easy. The old town is very close.

There was a lot of noise from other rooms, even though we were on the top floor. We could hear footsteps and doors banging. I also would have liked more sweet breakfast choices. Otherwise, it was a good experience.
