EA Hotel New Town

Leaving was the best part, and I know I'll never be back. At checkout the morning receptionist only asked whether we'd used the minibar, with no interest in how the stay went. Breakfast was basic and low effort. The orange juice was terrible, and while we had very plain food, staff were eating cake behind the counter. That felt unprofessional. The hotel hall smelled of cigarette smoke. During check-in the receptionist spoke only Czech and very little English. Our room was cold and the thermostat didn't work. We were moved to another room, but there was still no heating. When we asked for help, the receptionist did nothing and said maintenance might come sometime during the week. The lock in room 304 was broken, as if someone had broken in or something similar. The bathroom cups were dirty, and the towels had holes and frayed edges. WILL NEVER BE BACK.

Most of the time the employees seemed irritable and unwilling to help tourists. After we left, my wife realized she'd forgotten her wallet in the room. It had credit cards, money and very important documents. They said they hadn't found it and made no effort to help us look. The employee probably stole it.

The breakfast buffet was great every day, though the staff there could be a bit rude at times. Some staff spoke very little English, which made things somewhat difficult. I really missed having a mini fridge in the room. The hotel was clean and well located, check-in was quick and easy, and the small room was quiet and clean. Overall it was well maintained and a good stay.

I booked several rooms directly on the EA Hotel New Town website, but the amount charged came out higher than the confirmed price because of the hotel's internal exchange rate. I contacted the hotel several times to ask why, and never got a reply. The property itself may be fine, but the lack of clear pricing and communication is disappointing for a 4-star hotel. I'll update this review after my stay.
