Hostel Kolbenka

The staff at reception were very friendly and helped us figure out how to get around. We stayed in the first room, and the only real issue was the shower, which barely got warm enough to wash in. The hostel was otherwise good, though a bit expensive. We were there over New Year, so that's understandable. It's quite a distance from the centre, so take a cab or public transport.

Good rooms for the price, and the staff were friendly. The location took us a little while to find, but it puts you in a less touristy part of Prague, where shops and restaurants are cheaper and less crowded. The metro and tram are very close. I'd recommend it for young people travelling on a small budget.

There's no dedicated parking, though you can leave a car across the road. The vending machines inside take cash only, even though you can pay for your stay by card. On the plus side, the Yellow Line metro station is next door, and it's about 20 minutes to Namesti Republiky in the old town. Billa is one metro stop away. It's a cheap, pleasant place for a night, with clean rooms and comfortable beds, though they can be cold, even at the beginning of May.

We only stayed one night, and found it cleaner than the 3-star hotel we had in Hradec Kralove. It's not a luxurious place, but it's clean and cheap. Finding it can be tricky, as other people have mentioned. Look for the blue door, not the blue gate. There are lots of Uber's nearby, which helped since we were travelling early in the morning. A decent option for one night or for young people wanting to spend less while still having a clean place.
