Hotel Meritum

I booked at short notice after Agoda messed up my earlier reservation. The room was spacious and, for the price, would have been worth five stars if only there had been hot water. I skipped breakfast because it finished at 9, and I arrived very late.

The room was great, spacious, large, and clean, with thick curtains and a very large bathroom. We slept well, and breakfast was included. It was decent for the price, with good coffee. The hotel is probably about 12 km out on the outskirts, but the price is very competitive compared with places in the city center. The service lost a point for me. The gentleman at reception was quite dry several times, which didn’t feel right for the job. The ladies working in the restaurant were a plus, and greetings to them. I have to admit this was probably the best thing we had in Prague, because Prague itself felt very poor compared with other European cities we’ve visited. It was crowded, people weren’t very polite, and you had to pay for absolutely everything, often more than it was worth. Overall, I recommend the hotel.

The receptionist was amazing and friendly, and even packed breakfast for me because I had to leave early. Unfortunately, the room made this my worst hotel stay yet. It was very outdated, had no air conditioning, and barely any airflow in summer. The heat from the fridge made the room even hotter. I was on the first floor right next to the lifts and got all the noise. Cars parked right outside the window lit the room up even through closed curtains, and I got zero sleep. Avoid the first floor. The bathroom extraction vent was completely clogged with dirt, and there was no hot water.

The receptionist was very rude. The curtains were filthy, there were traces of insects, and the bathroom was very dirty. The shower was broken. See the pictures.
