Prague Central Apartments

We had the whole third floor for our group of eight, and there was room for as many as twelve. The old building is beautiful, with lots of natural light, and the place was clean and functional. It does feel dated, though. The furniture seemed cheap and I wasn't sure how long it would last, and the apartments were bare, with little decor or artwork. The TV wasn't set up, so we couldn't get anything to play, though we were mostly out sightseeing anyway. The baths are the typical European kind, so expect to sit down rather than shower. At night, noisy neighbors or young people shouted as they came back, which wasn't the renters' fault. The owners were polite and courteous, but hard to track down.

For the price, it was okay, and at least the beds were clean and comfortable. The apartments are roomy and, in principle, have plenty of equipment, including kitchens, several bathrooms, a washing machine and a dishwasher. But a lot of it was in bad shape: stuck windows, wobbly chairs, sockets coming out of the wall, and a TV that wasn't plugged in. Service was pretty much unavailable since there's no reception. You might run into the caretaker, who was very abrupt. Street and hospital noise also carried in.

You can walk to the main sights from Prague Central Residence, and the transport links are good, including easy access to the airport. There are plenty of good restaurants right nearby, so there's no need to head to the more touristy areas. Our apartment was clean and organized when we arrived, and the furniture was fine, but it could use repairs, especially in the wet areas. The toaster caught fire when we tried to use it. WiFi only reached the living room and could have worked better, and with no AC we had to leave the windows open and put up with the noise. Our place faced Spalena Street, where all the Prague trams pass right below the window. We were tired from walking all day, luckily, or we might not have slept. There was an elevator, but also a back entrance from the stairs, so people going upstairs could look straight into our living room and kitchen. The check-in is awkward too. We booked, checked in, and paid the City tax online, then had to cross the river to pay a deposit and collect instructions before getting the key. In an age of self-check-in, a keypad or key box would make things much easier. The location supports the price, and if you're on a budget and don't mind the noise, it can work. Please change the check-in process.

They cancelled our reservation just ten minutes before check-in. An hour earlier, they'd texted to say I'd get the apartment information when check-in started. It took several calls before they answered the phone. So unprofessional. I do NOT recommend this hotel.
