The Gold Bank

The room smelled bad as soon as we walked in, and airing it out didn’t help. There was a strong damp, humid smell throughout the hotel, and it didn’t feel clean or fresh. The place looked nothing like I’d expect from its photos or description. Reception staff were cold and unfriendly, with no warmth or effort to welcome guests. When I asked about the deposit, they were dismissive, as if I shouldn’t question it. The deposit policy was a major frustration. They charge it on top of the room payment, then say it can take up to 10 days to return it after checkout because they need to inspect the room. I find that unacceptable and unprofessional. In my experience, hotels check rooms right away and return the deposit when guests leave. Gold Bank Hotel was an unpleasant, overpriced stay and seemed poorly managed. Between the smell, the reception staff, and the deposit policy, I regret staying there and strongly suggest looking elsewhere. There are much better hotels in Prague that respect their guests. I’ll never stay here again and don’t recommend it to anyone.

A practical place to stay for getting around Prague. The train station is very close, and the Old Town is about a 15-minute walk away. Rooms are clean and fine for a short visit, though on the small side and without a special view. Breakfast was limited and average, but acceptable.

The rooms were spacious, exceptionally clean, and had very comfortable beds and pillows. There were plenty of toiletries, and breakfast was amazing with lots of options. Dasha and Yerke deserve a special mention for handling every question and request with ease and real professionalism. Check-in and check-out were easy, and the staff were courteous and professional. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return.

Being able to leave our bags at the hotel before check-in was really handy since we got there early. The location helped too, just a two-minute walk from the main train station, so getting around Prague was easy. We mentioned when booking that we were celebrating something special and were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade. The room was simple but clean and smart, and the bed was comfortable. The mini fridge was empty, and I couldn't find a hair dryer. A good budget option.
