U Krize

The owner was kind and accommodating, and there are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. The location is excellent, breakfast was more than enough, and I had a great stay. I’d definitely return.

I enjoyed my stay, and the friendly staff, excellent cleaning, and very good breakfast and restaurant all helped. The hotel is well placed, with the main sights around a 20-minute walk away, though the nearby busy road can make nights noisy. The room was comfortable, but had a few issues: there’s no air conditioning, some windows were hard to open or wouldn’t open at all, and the sofa bed had a noticeable yellow stain. Still, it’s good value for the city center, and I’d recommend it.

The location was a real plus, about a 30-minute walk to Prague Castle and 20 minutes to the old town. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was cleaned each day. Breakfast was good, especially the freshly made scrambled eggs. There was also sausage, though I didn’t try it, along with pancakes, bread, cereal, jam, fruit, yogurt, coffee, and juice. We had a perfectly fine stay at Hotel U Krize. Our third-floor room had sloped ceilings, which made the plug sockets awkward to use and sitting up in bed a bit of a challenge. It was clean enough, and the bed was comfortable for me despite its fairly thin, newer mattress. Beer was provided in the room, but there were no tea or coffee facilities. The shower was okay, with low pressure and water that wasn’t very hot; shampoo came in sachets, with no shower gel. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it makes a good base for a cheap city break.

The front desk and customer service were really friendly. The room felt a bit old, the lighting was dim, and there was no coffee machine or microwave. You should try the restaurant, though: the food was great, and a three-course meal for just $32 was excellent value.
