Bike Apartment

The owners and the surrounding area made the stay worthwhile. Mrs. Malinka, who greeted us, was kind and explained how everything worked. For our family of four, she let us use both bedrooms, even though we could have managed in the room with four beds. The place was clean, with enough room for our things, and the layout is unusual in an interesting way. We enjoyed the nearby outings, the chance to eat at the local restaurant, and the wine cellars. Lunch or dinner there was good value at 89 CZK. The Coop parking lot, about 200 meters away, was spacious and fairly quiet, and the shop had good things to buy. Given that accommodation nearby costs more, this old, partly renovated house is decent for its price if you mostly need somewhere to sleep between trips. Some outdoor seating would be nice for relaxing with a glass of wine. There are some awkward parts, though. The tiled hallway feels like a relic from another era and takes away from the overall impression. When the three-bed bedroom is closed, you have to cross much of that corridor to reach the bathroom and toilet, which are near the bike storage area. That storage fits up to four bikes, but it is inside the apartment, so bikes have to be carried all the way through the hall. I was glad I hadn't brought mine after all. The shower is just behind the bathroom door, with a curtain, but water still leaks out despite your best efforts. The foam mat gets soaked and doesn't dry overnight, even if you hang it up. The three-bed room and kitchenette are both rather dark. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped, but cramped: the hob and a tiny work surface are in one corner, with the sink and another small surface diagonally opposite, and the water runs weakly. The living room and four-bed room were fine, though the soft mattress gave me back pain. Also, traffic started early on Monday morning. At around six, I counted vehicles passing about every ten seconds, including more than just cars. The road is only about three meters from the house, and the drain in it adds to the noise. There is no parking on site, so you have to use the Coop lot.

They were kind, and the place was clean.
