The beds were okay, the hotel was fine inside and out, and the staff were friendly. The spa was nice. It’s a very quiet area, though there’s apparently a good Italian restaurant somewhere downstairs that I couldn’t find. At the hotel restaurant, the staff were very friendly and the prices were quite cheap compared with countries that use the euro. The food was okay, but not especially good and not what I’d expect from a four-star restaurant. Locals said it was a good place to be, and for the Czech Republic, it is.

The room was cozy, with a comfortable bed and sheets, and I liked the atmosphere and restaurant. The spa and wellness area were good too. Breakfast had a wide selection of options. The Finnish sauna was the one disappointment. It was at 100°C, so throwing water on the stones to get that soft, steamy löyly was impossible. The right temperature is 75-80°C. The restaurant wait staff were excellent, and the food was tasty, fairly priced, and offered a range of local and international dishes. The place was very clean, and there was plenty of free parking, though the nearby spaces were awkward to use and the rest of the lot was gated. The front desk staff could learn from the restaurant team when it comes to friendliness. Wi-Fi worked well in the common areas but not in the room, which was a problem since I need internet for work and sitting in the common area isn’t ideal. The shower had good pressure and temperature, but it was so small that I knocked the door open while washing below my ankle. The pillows were thin, as is typical in continental hotels, and there were no washcloths in the bathroom. There’s no a/c. My window faced other rooms, with an alley below used by the kitchen. In October the room was almost too hot already, and kitchen noise would make it impossible to keep the window open in summer. Three stars may be generous, but two feels too harsh.

The hotel is nice and the staff are good, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. In my opinion, the owner is a real jerk. He yelled at and berated staff in front of many customers, and treated us terribly too. The staff are fantastic, and I feel sorry for them. I wouldn’t stay there again or recommend the hotel.
