Hostel Sirena

If you're after luxury, this isn't the place. The accommodation feels like it's falling apart and hasn't improved over the years. The rooms are dirty, though comfortable to stay in. For cheaper lodging with OK food and good access to the ski slopes, it could work well.

The windows leak, and the whole hotel is so cold you need a soldier's winter jacket for Siberia. The accommodation quality is poor: dirty Lenin glasses in the room, a carcinogenic chandelier, a communist sink, torn Gottwald sheets, an Olympic basket, and cat-friendly lamps. Stalin's carpet hadn't been vacuumed. The reception was never open, and a list from 1950 was stuck on one wardrobe for four people.

The worst part was the dirt everywhere, from black carpets and clogged shared shower drains to dirty toilets, missing light bulbs, and old bedding that smelled unpleasant. In our room, the sink drain was full of hair, instant noodles, and some unidentifiable slime. The kitchen fridge was just as bad, with moldy food on every shelf, including what looked like a hairy cow's ear. We knew this was a hostel and weren't expecting comfort, but we didn't expect such filth. We left after one night. To her credit, the receptionist refunded us. For the same price, a family pension in Pec pod Sněžkou or Benecko is hard to compare with this place. If basic hygiene matters to you, I'd only visit as an open-air museum and not stay overnight. Definitely unsuitable for children, and adults too.

I stayed for a week and didn't run into any problems. It's an older hotel near the slopes, but it has what you need: wardrobes and a desk in the rooms, plus a toilet and two gender-separated showers on every floor. The kitchen is roomy enough for everyone. There's also a club, games room, elevator, and free Wi-Fi throughout.
