Read the reviews first. I’d warn against staying here, especially if you’re Polish. The owner is rude and even creates problems over parking. The parking lot is extremely tight, and you’re not allowed to drive closer to the chalet, not the villa, even to drop off or collect luggage. You can reach the ski slopes only by crossing other private plots, and only when there’s enough snow. Otherwise, it’s about 200 meters uphill on a sharp incline, then down a steep slope. I’m not surprised other Polish guests called the police after the owner wouldn’t return their security deposit. I did notice that German tourists were treated differently. I wouldn’t recommend this villa from the 1960s.

The breakfast was generous and made to suit us, and whenever we had a small issue it was sorted out straight away. The Kerner couple were warm and helpful throughout, even reserving places for us on New Year’s Eve when they didn’t have to. We knew from the description that the house wasn’t right by the lift. In fact, two lifts were within walking distance by public roads and paths, and we could have driven if needed. There was parking in front, cleared of snow every day. The bill was clear and fair, using the current euro rate, and we could also have paid in crowns. We received a proper invoice. We can’t understand the bad reviews we read before coming. Our group had everything we needed for a ski trip to Janské Lázně, and the host was friendly. The rooms were clean and warm, the Wi-Fi worked, and it was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was delicious and brought to the room. The slopes are only about 100 meters up the hill, and you can ski back down to the house. There’s a good restaurant next door, and the town is close by. The place has the usual Czech guesthouse kind of facilities. You might find somewhere closer to the slopes or more luxurious, but that isn’t what this is. I’m surprised by the negative reviews. Please be honest about what the place offers.

The owner’s insulting behavior while we were paying was the worst part of the stay. We felt pressured into extra charges, and he tried to make us pay too much in euros using an unfavorable exchange rate. His aggressive, intimidating manner was shocking. We also had no working internet, and the walls were very thin. Guests were accepted after midnight without warning, which disturbed our peace and kept us from resting. On arrival, basic information about getting to the ski slope was missing. From my first email contact, I felt disrespected by the owner’s rude, arrogant replies. He acted as if he didn’t speak English, though later it was clear that he did. He also claimed not to understand Polish, but later showed that he understood it perfectly. That only added to our disappointment and made us feel the place was dishonest. I can’t recommend this hotel. I’d look for somewhere else in the area.
