Hotel Monínec

We came for a Pilates event and really liked the hotel. The rooms were large, clean, and well equipped, and we enjoyed the restaurant too. There are hiking trails nearby if you want to explore the area.

The terraces could use more privacy. In the more expensive rooms, the terrace walls are only about 80 cm high, which made it hard to feel comfortable. Breakfast starting earlier would help too, especially in summer when there are lots of families with kids who wake up around 6. It begins at 8, so even 30-60 minutes earlier would be better. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the restaurant was nice. There are also nearby attractions for children in summer.

I gave this one star because of the so-called Family Trail. My seven-year-old son has ridden plenty of blue trails at Klinovec and Plesivec, but he had no chance on this one. It felt much more like Klinovec's red trail. On our first and only run, I also came across a family of three with no downhill experience. They seemed like ordinary visitors and were horrified and confused. The hotel manages the bike parks, so I'm leaving the review here. For experienced riders, the park is just so-so. Klinovec and Plesivec are much better, though this one is closer to Prague. The lift is slow, the trail is short, and the price is the same as Klinovec.

We swam every day in the lovely lake just down the road. The pool at the hotel is small, but it can keep kids entertained for a bit. The restaurant food was nice, though a little too expensive for us, and breakfast was good until it started feeling repetitive after three days. It would be nice to request a few extra items. The views are amazing, and the rooms are spacious. In summer our room was 28 degrees at night, with no air conditioning or even a fan. The balconies also need proper seating, since the views are such a big part of the appeal. Fixing those things could help make this a four-star place.
