Before setting off on the Oder Neiße Radweg from the source of the Lausatian Neisse, I stayed here. The room was clean and had everything I needed, including a well-equipped kitchenette of its own. There’s secure bike storage, too. Great value, and communication was good even for a late booking.
The listing makes the guesthouse look and sound good, but my experience didn’t quite match it. In the four-person apartment, there’s just one very small wardrobe, and the extra bed was so bad I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. After the first day, I would have preferred to cancel breakfast. The kettle only made enough coffee for one person, it wasn’t warm, and the milk was badly discolored. I can’t really comment on the couple running the place, as I only saw them when arriving and leaving.
The only thing I can praise is the cleanliness, perhaps even in the bathroom, though it was so dark we couldn’t see much there. The bathroom didn’t even have soap, and the light wouldn’t turn on. There was no TV anywhere in the room, and the kitchenette could have used some basics like salt, pepper, and sugar. We were also surprised by how different the price was for one night compared with a longer stay, since that wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the website. Unfortunately, this place wasn’t for us. 🙈
The surrounding landscape is beautiful, and the place was mostly okay, but the guesthouse itself wasn’t great. It might work for a night’s sleep, though not with a small child. Kids in the upstairs rooms kept running and stomping, waking our little one, and the old house creaked so much that everything could be heard. Breakfast was 80 CZK per person, or 160 CZK for the two of us, and I didn’t think it was worth that. The owner seemed very sparing with everything, especially the coffee milk. We barely got one pour each, so we used the milk we had in our room. There was no microwave in the room either, which would have been useful with a small child. 👍
We didn’t mind sharing the kitchen and upstairs toilets at all, though we were alone on that floor, which made it understandable. The old-world feel of this beautiful First Republic villa is lovely, and our stay was clean and cozy, with everything we needed. There’s a large ski room, a wine cellar downstairs, parking at the house, and WiFi. Our old dog had to manage a lot of stairs, but that was okay.
