I’d be fine with this place for one night, but I’d look elsewhere for a longer stay. The guesthouse is in a beautiful spot, which makes its neglected condition a shame. The room had cracked, dirty walls in many places, and behind the bedside table there was what looked like a century’s worth of grime. The shower needed a thorough scrub too. When I found that the TV wasn’t working, I asked the woman in charge about it. She said the listing mentioned the TV didn’t work, but I couldn’t find that information anywhere.

We’d arranged our stay over the phone, but when we arrived the woman changed her mind and turned us away. It seemed to be because we’re young and the owner didn’t like us. After a 300 km trip, being sent away at the door was a shock. I hope other young people don’t make the trip to Barytka only to face the same thing. There are better places for less, and luckily we found one. If I can recommend somewhere, Valon left us satisfied.

After driving 300 km, we were refused the room we’d arranged and confirmed several times by phone. The woman said she didn’t like our age, even though she wasn’t much older than us. Can young people not travel around our own country without being judged beforehand? I rarely write reviews, but what happened at Barytka last weekend was unlike anything I’ve experienced. I’ve worked in service myself, and I’ve never encountered someone so UNPROFESSIONAL and ARROGANT. If I could give minus one star, I would. Thanks to the helpful woman at Valon guesthouse for taking us in so readily when Barytka put us in this difficult spot.

We managed to find a place at Valon Pension within 15 minutes, and both the accommodation and the welcome were much better. At Barytka, after a phone call, the woman had promised one room for our group of 7. Once we’d arrived, 300km from home, we were told the owner had seen us and wouldn’t allow that many people in one room, so only 4 could stay. After a brief argument, the woman said she wouldn’t take the other 4 either, because she thought we’d all end up going there anyway and that we were too young. Please, we’re all 30 years old or older. The behavior was absolutely UNPROFESSIONAL. Avoid this accommodation.

I’ve stayed here twice now with my children, and we’ve been extremely happy both times. The owners are lovely, always ready to help or give advice. The rooms are clean and beautiful, and the guesthouse itself is too. It’s tucked away in a quiet spot, just a short walk from St. Peter. For the money, this is top in the Giant Mountains. Highly recommend. 🤘😎
