Ubytování Mája

What I appreciated most was how quiet it was around the house, and the mattresses were very comfortable. But the rest of our stay at Mája in 08/2024 was a letdown. The first impression was fairly good, though the sign was so sun-faded after years that even with a magnifying glass you could barely read it. Once we took the wheels off the car, we could put them in a very spacious garage. There was about 6m2 for the wheels, and the rest was an incredible old mess of everything the owners had lost. When we arrived, the place hit us with a "stink like when a dog gets wet", just musty and old. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped, but the dishwasher had apparently broken just before we got there :). The biggest issue was the hood in the shared kitchen: its filters were missing, the light didn't work, and when a guest turned it on while cooking, food smells blew into the bathroom and then the room. The outlet from the hood leads straight into one room's bathroom. The attempted fix was paper tape over the outlet, the toilet grille, so the grille was covered when you went to the toilet and turned on the hood. It was useless. There were no window screens, even though ponds all around meant crazy numbers of mosquitoes and wasps. Pool gear, a net and vacuum cleaner, had been thrown into the mud in the bushes by the pool. The spacious garden had dangerous things for children, including a completely dilapidated gazebo and paving stones tossed beside it, with another pile a little farther away. Someone had cut the grass but hadn't gathered it in the collection basket, so it stuck to everything and we kept tracking it into the house. When I asked the owner about this and other things, she couldn't answer. Another woman beside her was rolling her eyes, and after a while I realized I probably wasn't the first person to complain, even though I was told all the guests were satisfied. Since what we found here had already been mentioned 4-5 years ago, excuses like "we didn't have time to clean it this year" felt like more of the same from the owner.
