Hotel Dymník

The welcome was great, and it's a nice place, though I agree with other reviews that the price felt a bit high. Maybe it's inflation, who knows. We lost an hour waiting for a room change the day after we asked, because reception had to call the manager to confirm. Confirm what, I still don't know. Our first shower was damaged and flooded the room. The second room had dust, and its shower still had a problem, with water getting out. That's why I gave it 3 stars.

The restaurant was the highlight for us. The food was tasty, with a great choice and unbeatable prices, and the staff handled even our larger group well. The breakfast was basic but adequate, though on day three the Nutella was gone, the coffee machine was broken, and staff didn't seem to notice when things needed topping up. We stayed for a long weekend with three other families in rooms above the restaurant. Having a shared living room suited our group, but it was sparsely furnished. The kitchenette had a loose faucet, a kettle, and a refrigerator. The rooms were okay, but the bathrooms were disappointing. The bathtubs sat under a sloping roof, so an adult couldn't shower standing up. The water pressure was poor, and the shower head barely let water through. On the third morning, an unfriendly stranger came into the living room and mumbled something in Czech. We still don't know who she was or what she wanted. Breakfast was in the neighboring building, where I assume the modern rooms advertised on the website are. We'll probably choose another hotel next time we're in Bohemian Switzerland. The location is fantastic, and the problems seem fixable, but older reviews have mentioned them too and apparently nothing has changed.

The room was modern, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel grounds were pleasant, near Rumburk, and good for relaxing. A couple of things made the stay less convenient. The sink tap had weak pressure the whole time, and breakfast was served at a restaurant about 200 meters away, starting only at 9:00. That doesn't work for business trips if you have to leave before 8:00, unless you book without breakfast. There was no key or card, just a code entered on the door handle's numeric buttons. The numbers are quite small, so older guests and anyone with poor eyesight should take reading glasses when leaving the room. I went out without mine once and had trouble getting back in.
