The owner was really friendly, and the breakfasts were good. It’s a simple, very clean pension out in the countryside. If you’re after the feel of a Czech pension rather than fancy amenities, it’s a nice place for a day or two.

The views on both the Czech and German sides are beautiful. This is a good base for biking or hiking across the range, and it’s conveniently placed near the sandstone formations of Czech-Saxon Switzerland National park, at the edge of the Erzgebirge.

There was a big dead spider on the shower floor, barely any hot water, badly placed sockets, and noisy neighbours. I also waited 40 minutes just to order dinner. A strange man in the dining area made me feel unsafe, and I saw two people turned away despite having a Booking reservation. Their review is on Google Maps too. The place felt shady: cash only, no receipt, and the smoke detector in my room had been removed. I’d go somewhere else next time.

The staff were really friendly, and the lady did her best speaking German with us. She did well, and we got everything sorted easily. The area is lovely for walks, and the restaurant serves delicious food at very good prices. The place is cosy and beautiful, more friendly and characterful than comfortable or well equipped. Bathrooms are shared, which is a bit inconvenient, though the low price helps and adds to the atmosphere. Breakfast is enjoyable and affordable, but costs too much for what you get, especially next to the restaurant prices. It feels like paying for a whole meal.
