The food downstairs was the highlight for me after a day skiing. I had svíčková and trutnovský drak, and both were really delicious. Local beer is on tap for around 30czk. The room was OK, though I found the bed quite uncomfortable. I'd come back.

The restaurant downstairs is what would bring me back. It's busy and lively, but in a welcoming way, with a good atmosphere. The rooms are clean, though a little dull. Some only have roof windows, which I don't like, but they offered me another room right away.

The location is great, right in the city center and an easy walk from the railway station. We stayed five nights for a festival, but a lot of the basics were disappointing. The staff didn't know basic English, which made things awkward, and the TV instructions were only in Czech. There was no shower gel, shampoo, or conditioner in the shower room. Breakfast was okay, but there were no milk or gluten alternatives, and I didn't feel comfortable asking because of the language barrier. The bed was uncomfortable too, and the pillows were thin and lumpy.

It's right in the center of Trutnov, near the bus and train stations, shops, and restaurants. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. I took off a star because the included breakfast had a limited selection, and the shower was awkward to use with weak water pressure.

The pork knuckle (kolano / golonko) with beer was reason enough for me to recommend this place. The pork medallions in creamy sauce were great as well.
