B&B Hotel Aachen-Hbf

The coffee was very good, though I didn’t try the breakfast. For the price, I was surprised by how comfortable the bed and shower were, and there’s a parking garage. The hotel is in a strategic spot and I’d recommend it to anyone traveling on a tight budget. Be sure to book well in advance.

Breakfast staff were so friendly and patient, and the location was very convenient, within walking distance of both the historic city center and the central station. I had a wonderful stay with my parents. Our room for three was spacious, very clean, warm, and had enough ventilation and windows for sunlight. I’d highly recommend it! 🙏

The nearby bus stop, Normaluhr, has good connections, including to Vaals (NL) and the university clinic. The train station is close, but not so close that we heard its noise, and many sights were a 10-15 minute walk away. There are also two laundromats nearby. The location was very practical. We chose a premium room, which was large but oddly laid out: lots of unused space with no lighting, so it felt dark, the bench was much longer than its niche, and the toilet was awkward to reach. At the front desk during my solo check-in, the staff member said my room number out loud. I pointed out the safety concern, but he seemed angry and said he could see nobody else nearby. My back was facing most of the area, so I couldn’t know that. There were also some problems with the cleaners. I’d requested online the night before to have my garbage emptied, since there’s no automatic daily cleaning. One morning the cleaner woke me before 10. I told her in German I only needed the garbage emptied and asked her to let me get it, but she hurried down the hall while I fetched the bin. She came back more than 20 minutes later with a vacuum and asked whether I wanted the room vacuumed. I appreciated the effort, but not the wake-up or the extra wait before I could go back to bed. Checkout was at 12. On that morning, around 10, the cleaner knocked once, didn’t wait, opened the door, then quickly shut it. About half an hour later, he did the same and walked in while I was changing.

The room was really nice, and the hotel is very well located, about a 15-minute walk from the city center with great restaurants nearby. There’s parking for guests, but it costs extra. My only downside was the heating system, which makes a lot of noise.
