B&B Hotel Aachen-Nord

The bedroom was clean and I got a reasonable night’s sleep. It’s cheap and conveniently located, around a 15-minute walk from a couple of decent restaurants. The rest of the place felt very old, tired, and worn, with ingrained stains. Maybe my expectations were off after staying at a swish new B&B Hotel in Switzerland. I’d stay here again, though I’d look at other options first. It felt somewhere between a Travelodge and an Immigration Centre.

The whole first floor smelled of weed, and my daughter has been traumatized by the hotel and its staff since then. The staff promised to refund the rooms but never did. On top of that, the electric car charging stations weren’t working. Very bad hotel and very bad staff.

A clean, F1-type place that worked well for an overnight stop on the way to England or Benelux. There’s a gas station right across the street, and a pizza place and steakhouse about a 10-minute walk away. Good location for a short stay.

The breakfast next morning was extensive, and the room was clean and quiet. I arrived around midday and checked in easily at the automated kiosk. The hotel is 5k from downtown Aachen, but I found a scooter nearby and rode into town without trouble. Great location for the price, and I’d definitely stay again.
