Hotel Baccara

There’s a lift, which is a nice feature in an old building. The hotel is convenient for a visit to RWTH Aachen University, just a 5min walk from campus and a 30 min walk to the main train station. The service was acceptable. My single room was rather old fashioned and small, the wash room tap was loose, and the towel didn’t smell very fresh. The bed wasn’t very comfortable either.

The location is fairly good, with restaurants and a bus stop within walking distance. The bathroom is extremely tiny, though that didn’t bother me. Breakfast choices were very limited, also fine by me, and the people setting it up were nice and friendly. But the soundproofing is extremely bad, and that’s why I’m giving a low rating. At 23:00, someone else in the hotel, perhaps a non-guest or the owner's relative, was playing VERY LOUD music with heavy bass. It was impossible to ignore, let alone sleep. At 06:00, footsteps from the upstairs breakfast room were audible. At check-in and check-out, nobody was at the counter despite my ringing the bell many times. Eventually I had to call the hotel so someone would "come from upstairs". I rarely give a hotel such a low review, and I’m stating facts, nothing personal. Fellow guests shouldn’t be taken in by the seemingly good reviews or claimed 3-star status.

It’s pet friendly, and the hotel is close to both the city center and the forest. My husband, our dogs, and I had a great time. The staff were polite and friendly, the hotel was very nice and clean, and breakfast was preeeetty nice too. It seems like a good fit for tourists and couples wanting a pleasant stay.

The hotel is close to the city center, university buildings, and train station, and there’s art on the walls throughout the building. Open the windows and you can hear birds singing while looking out at green, lively Aachen. The rooms were clean, spacious, and modern, with TV and Wifi. The staff were kind, helpful, and friendly, and the breakfast was delicious, as was the great coffee. I think Hotel Baccara is the best place to stay in Aachen. Thanks to the lovely people there for making my stay so memorable. I’d definitely recommend Hotel Baccara.
