Our welcome was very warm, and the staff were lovely and helpful. After checking in and leaving our luggage in the room, we went to the restaurant for diner. The food was amazing. I loved the Aachener Sauerbraten, the meat was so tender and the sauce complemented it without overpowering it. The creme brulee was lovely and sweet, one of the best I’ve tasted in a while. The room was clean and neat, spacious, and had a large balcony and a bathroom with bathtub, though it wasn’t really luxe. I couldn’t use the tub because the water kept draining away. The beds were a bit low for me, and it took some time to get used to that. The hotel is definitely worth the cost, and I’d come back for the delicious Aachner Sauerbraten.

Before hiking the Eifelsteig, I stayed here and was very happy with it. It isn’t super luxurious, but had everything I needed, and the staff were especially friendly and helpful. The woman at reception seemed just as excited about my hike as I was. The lunch package was great too, with plenty of fuel for the day on the trail.

The table was dusty enough to show fingerprints, as if it may not have been wiped for two weeks. It could have been cleaner. Also, the listing said there was a swimming pool when I booked, but a staff member simply told me it was closed. If it was unavailable, why was I led to expect it?

For the €63 we paid for one night for two, this was a great deal. The bed was so comfortable I slept like a rock, the room smelled good, the area was quiet, and the staff were friendly. There was even a bathtub. After reading the reviews, I expected much worse. It's not a five-star hotel and I wouldn't spend a whole vacation here, but it worked really well for us.

There was no air conditioning or fridge in the room, and it had a strange smell. A notice said rooms weren't cleaned every day. There's no parking either, so if you're travelling by car, you'll have to find a spot on a nearby street.
