The last evening was a letdown. We got back at 10:20 and the place was dark, with nobody around, so we couldn’t get the coffee or liquor we’d hoped to have before bed. They also didn’t replace the water in our room, leaving us to drink tap water. The hotel was clean but quite dated. The bedroom was only warm, and the corridors ran on timers that switched the lights off after a couple of minutes, which made the host seem rather mean. Breakfast was okay, though quite a few things were missing when I went down at 9:25, even though it didn’t finish until 10. It made for a pretty miserable end to our two-night stay.

We had delicious regional food and found the staff consistently friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and clean, the prices reasonable, and the hotel and restaurant sit in the heart of the beautiful Hunsrueck. Be sure to look at their fantastic gem store.

The owner really knows gems and can explain their history as well as the history of the town. The staff were friendly, and the food was honest, well portioned, and reasonably priced.

I felt extremely comfortable at Hotel Steuer and would happily stay again. The south-facing balcony looked out over the garden and forest, and the spacious room had plenty of room to relax. It came with a flat-screen TV, fridge, kettle, coffee and tea supplies, plus a hairdryer and toiletries. Room service was excellent and replenished supplies every day. The hotel is lovingly furnished and decorated with a real eye for aesthetics. The café serves delicious cake with coffee, and the menu offers plenty of choice. Service staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, with genuine customer care.
