The Reitzig family are such charming hosts 🥰, and the apartment is comfortable and feels just like home. Everything was spotless, peaceful, and thoughtfully taken care of, even down to the first-aid kit. There’s a lovely outdoor area, a well-stocked minibar with drinks at reasonable prices, and all the useful touches you could want, from towels and a dishwasher to an umbrella. Altenau itself is a lovely town, with friendly people, plenty of restaurants and shops, and a great starting point for exploring all parts of the Harz Mountains. We’ll be back!!!

You feel at home as soon as you arrive, and we’d love to come back. It’s wonderfully quiet, surrounded by nature, with a pond and lovely waterfall just a short walk away. The historic house is gorgeous and exceptionally well maintained, having once been a recreation center for the Volkswagen plant. Inside, it was impeccably clean down to the smallest detail, tastefully and professionally furnished, and full of thoughtful touches. We’re the second generation in our family to visit the "Haus am Hüttenteich" once a year. Every time, we have a wonderful, relaxing week. We arrive, unpack, and feel at home, and we can truly recommend these vacation apartments to everyone!👌👍

One of Altenau’s most beautiful vacation homes, in a lovely, quiet location. There’s always something to do here, whether it’s winter or summer, and the house management is very friendly.
