Villa-Fuldablick

We had a lovely time at the villa with friends. The pool and sauna were a real highlight, especially when the weather was bad, and check-in and check-out went smoothly. The pool cleaning schedule was considerate of us. What left a bad impression was the consumption billing. Holidu's booking details didn't mention a usage bill, or said electricity would cost €0.50 per stay. I'm not against paying according to use, but 50 cents per kWh and €12 per m³ of water feels like an attempt to make extra money. Around where I live, it's €5 per m³ and 35 cents per kWh. I'd rather see a higher nightly rate and an honest bill for the actual costs.

The house felt neglected, and given the price, we won't book it again. For instance, a planning flaw like the one in the picture may not be a safety problem, but it says a lot. We were told the pool was heated with wood, but it runs on oil and was too hot for us. Even after we asked, they couldn't lower the heat. It also seemed clear that they make money from electricity and water use. We were told there would be two visits during our week to check the pool's pH and run the robotic cleaner for two hours each time. I can test pH at home with a quick kit in a minute. Since the cleaner was already announced, I didn't see a technical need for the visits and felt more like they were checking up on what was happening in the house. The kitchen is too small for the number of people. The fridge door opens the wrong way, something that should have been fixed when the kitchen was installed, and we felt there wasn't enough cutlery or crockery. The children's beds are on the floor in the four-bed room, while the parents' beds are at the edge. Maybe that's so the children's beds can slide under the “big” bed, but it seems poorly thought out. The TV sound fills the room. Whoever wants to watch has to turn it up, which disturbs and annoys everyone else in the only room.

We've stayed twice already and have another visit booked for October and November. The welcome was friendly, and the facilities have everything we could want. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher, and there's a large garden with barbecue facilities. The new whirlpool bathtub is another nice touch. We especially love the heated indoor pool and sauna. We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to coming back.

Villa Fuldablick turned out to be just the relaxing break we wanted, despite my initial doubts from reading other reviews. It's very quiet, with a lovely view, and has everything we needed apart from a washing machine, which wasn't really necessary. The pool and sauna are beautifully placed inside the house. The large bathroom has been renovated, with a whirlpool bathtub and a roomy shower. The owners were working in the garden, which can be seen from outside, but it didn't bother us. They checked with us before running the pool-cleaning robot, about every three days. We also loved the seating area beneath the pergola, with its swivel grill.
