Demi at the front desk arranged a fantastic room upgrade. The room was modern, very clean, and hot, with a comfortable bed, and the facilities were top notch. The hotel is close to good restaurants, the town square, and historic sites. A great place to stay while visiting Amberg.

The rooftop nightclub was the main downside for us. On Friday, music played loudly outside until after midnight, and the hotel bar also operates like a nightclub on Friday and Saturday, at least during our stay. With the windows open, the noise was worse; shut, it was still loud, and there was no air conditioning. The room was set to 20 degrees, and the underfloor heating didn't cool the room. Luckily, the club was closed Sunday, so we slept better before our flight. The hotel itself is beautiful. Our room had lovely wood beams, and there are two separate bedrooms available. The kitchenette was well equipped with pots and pans, a microwave, a two-burner stovetop, dishes, and a dishwasher. The shower and bathroom were excellent, and breakfast offered a fantastic range.

The rooftop breakfast was a highlight, with a great spread and a 360-degree view of Amberg. The hotel is also close to the train station, well maintained, and nicely renovated. The shower has no door, the WC is in a separate room, and there are no facial tissues. There also wasn't a chair at a suitable height for the foldable table.

The room looked new and was very well designed, with a large, comfortable bed made up of two mattresses and duvets. But it was freezing, around 18 degrees, because the heating wasn't working during our stay. It was cold and rainy outside, and being told the heating was turned off for summer meant we couldn't warm the room. There weren't any spare blankets in the room, so we had to wait until the next day to get some. The cold made the stay uncomfortable.

I'd stay here again if I came back to the area. It's one of the best hotels around by far, and there are great nearby restaurants when you want a change from the breakfast, which was good but got repetitive during my long stay. The beds were more comfortable than most German beds I've tried, though the typical setup of a firm mattress, tiny blankets, and enormous pillows still isn't my preference as an American. I don't sleep well on that style, but that's just my personal taste.
