There was no hot water, and the only way to reach the owner was by phone. After two days without a shower, he moved me to a lovely room in a charming little inn he also owns around the corner. He was friendly, seemed to care, and did make an effort to sort things out, though he also seemed too busy to provide the right level of service. I hope the problems I had at Hotel Residenz were due to the renovations. The first floor was under construction, and looked like a set for a post-apocalyptic movie on the way to our floor. We also had to open a small safe to get our room keys. Honestly, I don’t think this hotel will ever be as nice as his other inn. He should direct guests there until this place is finished. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. My advice is to steer clear of Hotel Residenz and ask about the other location around the corner.

After I was kicked out of my AirBnB and had nowhere to go, a stranger who knew there were vacancies brought me here and explained my situation to the owner, who gave me a discount. The rooms are small but cozy, and the bathroom is nice. The sheets smell amazing, though the rooms don’t block noise very well. Even at full price, I think this hotel is worth it.

There was a strange smell in the rooms that I couldn’t identify, with lots of fragrances throughout the hotel trying to cover it. The breakfast was stale and awful. The managers or owners were rude to me and my colleagues. One threatened to kick me out after I accidentally left my key in the room, then made me wait over 90 minutes to unlock the door. It was an unacceptable exchange over a simple mistake that probably happens to everyone. My colleagues and I could also hear mice in the walls, perhaps that was the smell others mentioned. If I end up in Ansbach again and need a hotel, I’d rather drive an hour than stay here. This hotel is the same as Hotel Zum Lamm.

After our car broke down on the autobahn, our insurance found us this place at midnight. The rooms are basic but pleasant and very clean, breakfast was good, and the staff were very helpful.

The breakfast was really complete, thanks for that. The room felt a bit dated, but the man at reception made the stay. A nice hotel.
