Hotel Goldene Sonne

The staff were good, and my room was clean. The woman could even speak English, which I found promising in Arnstadt, in East Germany. I can't say how many stars the hotel has, but it didn't have many facilities. I got the impression it was a family-run business, with the owners handling things themselves. For example, there were no waiters at breakfast, just the woman and the man, who I assume were the owners. It's in the city center, or old town. Arnstadt is a small city, in case you haven't visited. I was there for work. I'm not sure, but I don't think there is much for tourists to do.

The welcome was friendly and hospitable, and the price was very reasonable. We had a nice, large room in a beautiful historic building in a historic town. The furnishings are an eclectic mix of styles. There's private parking, which is handy for motorcyclists.

Breakfast comes with the stay, and it was fine for the price. It could use a more international range, though. The place feels more like a pension than a hotel, but that didn't bother me. The service is top-notch for what you pay.

The location was great, and our room was clean, nicely furnished, and had a comfortable bed. The hosts were lovely, and breakfast was excellent. I'd recommend it without hesitation.
