Pension Stepponat

The hosts were so friendly and helpful, and the price felt fair, especially with breakfast included. We had a delicious breakfast right on time, and it's an easy walk straight into the city center. In the evening, you can make coffee in the dining and living room next door. I slept well, though the bedroom was a little warm. The bathroom had everything I needed, including a hairdryer.

The location is very central, and breakfast was good and filling. The landlady was friendly and helpful. The house is clean, but the accommodation is basic and doesn't offer much comfort. Anyone bothered by noise should know there's a neighboring sports field, though quiet hours are respected. My single room upstairs was clean, but very small. The furnishings felt dated and poorly arranged. The yellowed leather armchair was stuck under a wall unit, with no room to pull it out, and the table was crammed under the same unit and took up space without being usable. The bed and sheet were clean, though both looked worn. The old carpet was the worst part and seems unhygienic. It ought to be replaced more often, or with something like laminate. I wouldn't recommend this room to anyone with allergies. The tiny bathroom was clean and functional, but had no modern comforts. The three rooms upstairs all open onto a shared room with tables, a kettle, capsule coffee machine, microwave, books and board games. Snacks and coffee capsules are sold there, but €1.50 for a capsule is steep. I didn't see how people could use the common room without disturbing guests trying to relax. Its dated, uninviting furnishings might mean that question doesn't come up often anyway. Wi-Fi is free, but unreliable. I had none at night, though I can't tell whether the signal was poor or access is limited to certain hours.

The owner was friendly and helpful, and there's a large free parking lot right next door. The city center and old town are easy to get to. The place is on a quiet side street and was clean and tidy. There's a fridge, coffee maker, and kettle in the common room. A few parts of the furnishings could do with updating.

A clean, well located guesthouse with really friendly people. We had a wonderful stay, thanks so much. I'd happily recommend it! 👍
