Am Hohen Bogen Arrach

The cottage was cozy, spotless, and had good WiFi, and the natural surroundings are beautiful. We had a nice stay, though the park isn’t especially appealing for older kids, and our beds were very uncomfortable. One tip: bring beach shoes, since the lake entry is full of stones.

The place feels dated, with no restaurant or shop. The two-person holiday apartment on the ground floor is very cramped, and there’s only a little basic garden furniture.

We had two lovely summer weeks, with good luck on the weather: it stayed between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius for almost the whole time. There was plenty to do with the kids, including a nearby toboggan run. We stayed in 69ug, a lovely cottage with all the trimmings and a fairly modern interior, which isn’t true of every cottage. You can swim in the park lake, though there’s a much nicer, more enjoyable free swimming spot a little further on in Arrach. The restaurant was good and not too expensive. We saw lots of wasps around the cottage, but they were everywhere in the area. Dogs are allowed in the cottage and park. Poo bags are available everywhere, and dogs can run freely just outside the park. Take the exit at the back and cross the road.

There’s lots of space in the fantastic cottages, and the park is beautiful and well located. The lake is lovely too, and great for swimming. Connectivity is the drawback. There’s no Wi-Fi, and the location is too remote for decent mobile data. Phone calls work fine, as does WhatsApp, but sharing photos or videos and browsing the internet are pretty much useless.
