Vienna House Easy by Wyndham Augsburg

The hotel is in a quiet spot, and I had a good stay. It took about 30 minutes to get there by tram from Augsburg Central Station, then just a couple minutes on foot. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included and has a good variety. Dinner is available until 10 pm, with a limited menu but tasty food, so check the menu card when you check in. Rewe is nearby for groceries or snacks. Coffee lovers, keep in mind that the coffee here is strong. Gladly recommend!

Being a non-smoking hotel mattered most to me. My room and bathroom were clean and tidy, and I loved the interior design. The soap smelled so good that I’m thinking of buying some for myself. There’s also a restaurant in the hotel, so food is easy to sort out. Rewe and Ihle Bakery are just around the corner for shopping. It’s less than five minutes from the tram station, and one tram ride of about 15 minutes gets you to the Hauptbahnhof. The hotel is in the university area and close to WWK Arena. Line 8 takes just one stop to get there, though I believe it only runs on football game days.

I stayed here for work and found the whole experience extremely disappointing. There’s no air conditioning, no tea or coffee in the room, and I couldn’t even get an iron. I asked at check-in, again after going into the city, and once more in the morning. I was left with no way to deal with a shirt I couldn’t wear. For a work hotel, not providing a basic service like that is totally unacceptable.

The room was cozy, well lit, and nicely decorated, and the beds were comfortable. Customer service was very friendly, breakfast was good, and the location worked for us because it was close to the exhibition center. If room noise doesn’t bother you, I’d still recommend it, since everything else was wonderful. But the walls seem paper-thin. You can hear practically everything from other rooms, including conversations at normal volume. Our neighbors were, shall we say, enjoying one another’s company, and we heard all of it. I can usually sleep through noise, but that was the worst night’s sleep I’ve ever had at a hotel. If you stay, you might ask for a room near unoccupied rooms. NinetyNine is like the John Reed of hotels; if you know the penta-hotels, expect something along those lines.
