Hotel Waldquelle

The morning reception service was friendly and helpful. We booked by phone without any trouble, and although reception was unmanned when we arrived, we'd been told in advance. One call was enough to get the key from the safe and enter the hotel. We had room number 5. The bathroom had been renovated nicely, but the rest of the furnishings were dated and looked a bit dingy, even though the room was clean. There was a cigarette smell, though we don't smoke. Under the toilet seat was completely yellowed and needs replacing, and the towels were worn, with burns, stains, and an unpleasant smell. Breakfast was included, but the selection was very limited, less than I expected. The hotel has good reviews generally, but it didn't meet our expectations.

Breakfast was fine and had a decent range: cold cuts, cheeses, salmon, smoked trout, scrambled eggs, and boiled eggs. It was the same each day, and I missed having more raw vegetables. There were only cherry tomatoes. The room itself was actually very clean, apart from one day when room service didn't come because the lady was supposedly sick. The bed was okay. My single room was tiny, with old-fashioned, mismatched furnishings and carpet on the floor. The bathroom looked newly renovated, but it was so small you could barely turn around. It's very quiet and green around the hotel. It's on a country road, but the room was peaceful.

We were at Hotel Waldquelle last week, and the service was friendly, courteous, and helpful throughout. We're planning to vacation there again next year. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

We were warmly welcomed for our weekend stay in an apartment with breakfast included. One afternoon we got to visit the Aurich Christmas market. It made for a lovely weekend.
