Arthotel Ana Aura

The towel situation on Dec16 was awful. My used towels hadn't been changed, and with the front desk empty again, I had to phone for clean ones. They said they'd bring them within an hour. I waited from 18:00 until 22:00, called more than 5 times, and nobody came or answered. It felt like a ghost castle, with no staff and hardly any guests. No wonder. I had booked four nights, Dec15 to 19, 2023, and arrived at 16:00 on Friday, Dec15. The hotel was locked and unstaffed. A notice said an email should have arrived with a security code to get my key from the box on the door, but I hadn't received one. The phone only reached an answering service. Luckily, another guest helped me get through to a staff member, who gave me the code over the phone so I could check in.

The restaurant was really good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room staff were thorough, too, and the place is very well maintained. The lobby, bar, and dining room have a nice historic feel. My single room was dated and the bed was very small. The shower pressure could strip paint off a car. Still, a nice place to stay, all things considered.

At 2am I woke up with at least five bedbugs biting me. I just wanted my luggage sanitized and to get as far away as possible. There was no hotel staff around, and when I called, management said they were in Augsburg, 40 minutes away. I was told to wait until staff arrived at about 6am. The wifi was terrible, and the TV only worked for a few hours a day. Do yourself a favor and don't even consider staying here.

Probably a great place at another time, but not on a hot summer day. There's no air conditioning or fans, it gets pretty hot, and cars keep rushing past.
