Gästehaus Therme-Blick

For €70 a night plus final cleaning, I expected a lot more. The place was freezing when I arrived, and even with every radiator turned all the way up, it never got to 21°C. The Wi-Fi showed up on my phone but I couldn't use it without a password. The bedroom blind was torn and lying on the sill, with both brackets broken. The furniture looked greasy and was all from the 90s; the garden furniture had been moved indoors in September and was filthy. I wiped a smiley face onto the white table with a damp dishcloth in ten seconds. I searched booking.com specifically for a wheelchair-accessible holiday apartment in Bad Driburg, and Therme-Blick house came up. What I booked had nothing to do with being barrier-free or wheelchair accessible. I felt completely misled. I asked the landlord straight away and got a shrug. He said he “hadn't looked into it yet” and “would have to figure it out.” See the attached pictures and screenshots. Being alone in a wheelchair 300km from home in this apartment was no use at all. Getting from the sloped parking area to the house was extremely difficult: there are two steps at the front, and the outside route is steep, especially with luggage on my lap. I couldn't shower, couldn't get into bed properly, and couldn't use the terrace because of a 20cm step. The bathroom is so small the door won't close with a wheelchair inside. The shower entrance is 20cm high, I couldn't see myself in the mirror, and there are no grab bars anywhere. I think most weekday income here comes from foreign installers who don't really care about the condition. A “healthy” person might give it 2-3 stars, but as a wheelchair user I feel thoroughly ripped off. One star is too much. I'll also report this to the relevant trade supervisory authority in Osnabrück. This is no way to treat paying guests.
