Knaus-Campingpark

The campsite is basically one huge, dirty car park, though the sanitary facilities were clean. There was no information for camping-caristes. Staff were just polite enough, but surly and brusque, with very little empathy for tourists. It was the most expensive site we’ve visited in Germany. Watch out if you arrive early in the day, since they charge a hefty early arrival surcharge. Poor facilities, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The lake was lovely and much needed in 36deg heat. Facilities were clean and lovely, with plenty for kids to do. The pitches are small and expensive, and some staff weren’t especially welcoming or friendly. Restaurants close by couldn’t accommodate us on two attempts, so we gave up.

The lake is beautiful, but the pitches are really, really small, and this was the most expensive site we’ve ever stayed at. There’s an aerodrome on the far side of the lake. It only had small aircraft, and they didn’t fly overnight. We definitely won’t be back.

There’s a small shop, and the little lake seemed popular with families and kids. The facilities are good. A lot of the tent area has no shade, though, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving my phone unattended to charge in the toilets.
