Kurparkhotel

The breakfast had plenty of choice and was good. We sat outside on a warm summer morning, watching little birds hop around for scraps. It was very relaxing. The hotel sits in lovely gardens and a park, just a two minute walk from the center, bars, and restaurants. A wander around the impressive building and grounds is a must. We had a great view from our spacious room. There was no air conditioning, and the decor looked a bit dated, but it had a cool retro, almost Ikea-ish feel. Toiletries and towels were provided, and the beds were very comfortable. The receptionist was helpful and made us feel welcome. There’s paid parking at the entrance and an EV charger. It’s only 22kwh, but the flat overnight rate of €30 is reasonable. Excellent hotel, and we’ll definitely return. 5 stars!

The hotel room looked more outdated in person than it did in the online photos. I’d booked this for my birthday, choosing the “romance/couple” package with a spa massage, oil bath, candlelight dinner, and other inclusions. The spa is a separate business inside the hotel, but hotel staff booked the appointments without telling me the times. I’d put in an online late check-in time of 8-9pm because my husband and I had to work, yet they scheduled the oil bath for 5pm on our arrival day. They said they were booked and couldn’t make any accommodations. I was frustrated, especially since I’d called twice before arriving to ask about arranging the spa appointments and was told to call back later because no one at the desk could help. On check-in night, he called and said we could ask in the morning, since our massages were booked for the next morning. The spa front desk again said they were booked and didn’t try to help. I paid for the package but missed some of the services, and was basically told I was out of luck. It felt rude.

The Pfälzer really know how to host. The building is fascinating, and the whole place gives you a perfect getaway feeling.

The restaurant service was great and friendly, but the morning and afternoon buffets had limited hot dishes. There was a little more variety among the cold options, but since I don’t like cold food, I was left with only 3-4 trays to choose from. I’m honestly not sure how this is a 4stars hotel. The room was clean, but the kettle was disgustingly dirty. The table fan they provided was broken, and there was no air conditioning, so I had to call reception to get it changed. The receptionist clearly wanted to help, but couldn’t understand my English, and it took several repeats and a while to explain the problem. The in-room TV only had German channels and a hint of some English channel, but showed no satellite connection throughout my 4days stay. Like others have said, the hotel feels dated, very 80s, and can smell musty.
