The hotel itself is quite nice, and staying there could be pleasant if you’re visiting the area. But I’d be wary of booking an event. We held five events there for our Princess one-day 20th Anniversary, and the communication was a mess. It took more calls and emails to get a response than we exchanged with all the hotels across the whole tour, and even paying the bill became difficult. We couldn’t reach the hotel easily either. They hadn’t warned us about major roadworks, so after arriving in Bad Elster, a trip that should have taken five minutes took an hour. A heads-up would’ve helped. Although they had a written record and images of both sides of my credit card, I still couldn’t get a final bill before we left. Then they tried charging the card so many times that the issuer flagged it as possible fraud and cancelled it. I had to drive to our German office to get a replacement. You’d expect an apology, but instead Marketing Director Michael Boerner told us not to come back. Wow.

Bad Elster is a historic spa town, pleasant for walks and cycling, and the hotel gives you access to a large bathing and sauna complex. There are indoor and outdoor pools, saltwater pools, and good massage facilities. Parking in the garage is free. The restaurant could use a little improvement.

The Albert Bad, The Solar therm, and the hotel itself are beautiful and modern. But the Solartherme “Restaurant” was a disaster. The food cost 15.00 EUR and tasted just as awful. The baths could get 5 stars, but I’m giving only 3 because that restaurant experience wasn’t acceptable.
