Free parking, a beautiful old building, and a nicely decorated room with clean, comfortable white bedding were the good parts. But we left disappointed, despite loving the antique decor. The dinner ingredients were good, yet the dishes lacked imagination, with basic steamed vegetables, and it felt overpriced. Dessert was nice, but I’d skip dinner here. Breakfast had a good selection, though eating in the new part of the building felt like being in a cold conference center. Room 3 was a problem. The cold water tap gave hot water, leaving us with two hot taps and no cold water. We mentioned it at checkout, and the receptionist’s response made it sound like they already knew, yet they had still put us in that room. We were also above the outdoor smoking area, so the smell came into our room. We booked by phone for €114, then noticed a €108 rate on the hotel’s own Welcome Hotels website. The receptionist said that rate was only available online. Six euros isn’t a big deal, but it didn’t feel accommodating, especially since this was a last minute booking and we had no time to book online. The building has real potential, but I personally wouldn’t recommend the hotel after this experience.

The food and wines were exquisite, and the service was great. This little hotel is tucked into an old castle in a quiet part of Bad Friedrichshall, with lovely gardens, outdoor dining, and a superb room. Highly recommend it.

The breakfast was included and amazing, with lox, quality cheeses, eggs, bacon, muesli, and more. The staff were very friendly, and the rooms have high ceilings and windows. Room 7 was my favorite, with such a charming view. The grounds and outdoor seating areas were gorgeous, and the heating baseboards worked hard. It’s near Badwimpfen and Heidelberg. One thing did bother us: front desk staff said the owners might build another building with more rooms in the courtyard. That would compromise the view and grounds and ruin the property’s authenticity. Please don’t do it, and don’t let greed rule. If it happens, I won’t stay again. For now, though, top stars.

A good spot for jogging and other activities when you’re in the Heilbronn Neckarsulm area. The rooms are nice and the service is friendly. Great hotel.
