Hotel Phönix

Excellent!

We found plenty of choice at breakfast, and the hotel menu was varied too. There are many restaurants an easy walk away, though they were very busy, so it’s advisable to book ahead. The hotel and rooms were tidy and very clean. It was quiet even though the hotel was nearly full, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful.

My cousin and I stayed just under a week in May 2026, sharing two single rooms joined by a connecting door and with a balcony. The rooms were great, the welcome incredibly warm, and the staff and service were wonderful. It was excellent value for money. Because I have food allergies and intolerances, they talked through my dinner with me each day and did a superb job accommodating me. Since I can’t eat dairy, they even offered mustard to spread on my bread at breakfast. A fantastic hotel. Many thanks for everything, Thorsten Berthold and Dagmar Beyer

Breakfast was a mess after an already miserable night. At 9:00 a.m., nearly every table was occupied, and the few free ones were covered in used dishes. We waited five minutes, then cleared a table ourselves. The buffet selection was appalling, and after asking several times for a small coffee spoon, I gave up after 20 minutes. When we politely raised the room's cleanliness and the breakfast setup with a hotel manager, they just smiled; we felt ignored and got no solution. The room itself had a musty smell, the bathroom smelled of toilet, and there was broken glass on the balcony floor. A connecting door let us hear our neighbor talking and making other noises. The worn-out mattresses and the neighbor's loud snoring made for a sleepless night. Getting that room was difficult, too: we'd booked a double room with a balcony, but were first given a dark corner room with a small window. The young receptionist kept saying no balcony rooms were available, then offered us two single rooms with balconies. We declined and asked to cancel and get a refund. Half an hour later, a double room with a balcony turned up after all. The booking website also listed amenities the hotel doesn't have, including a restaurant, bar, fitness center, or kettle. No thanks, absolutely not recommended!
