Hotel Fürstenhof

The location is good, and the sunbathing area was nice, much better than the one at St. Wolfgang. The room felt a little small. My bed couldn’t be adjusted, and the mattress had lost some of its spring. Housekeeping came only once a day, which was less often than I expected. The car park was really dark, and we scratched our car. Even though the weather was good, the restaurant’s al fresco area wasn’t open. We asked Mentor many times to seat us outside, especially because of covid, but he flatly refused each time. When we asked other waiters, the junior ones would at least check with the manager. The senior female waiters gladly let us sit outside for breakfast. Once the outdoor area opened, lots of people went there to eat. I would have preferred the restaurant doors to be open for air circulation because of covid. Mentor also rushed us out shortly after 7.30pm. I understand dinner service ends at 7.30pm, but he should consider why we were still eating then: he took a long time to serve us and take our orders. The way he sent us out was rude. That would never happen in countries with way better service. Waiter Dzenan and waitress Anita Wimmer were good. One older waitress was nice, but after wiping up a spill with a cloth, she used the same cloth on the buffet counter and machines. That was unhygienic.

The food is exceptional and would be worth the money on its own. Definitely book the evening meal, or you’ll miss out. The staff are consistently friendly and courteous, and many have worked there for years. I’m not a golfer, so my visits are all about wellness. The spa still has a pretty high standard and should meet normal expectations. This hotel is part of an artificial village with hotels, apartment houses, pensions, restaurants, and a handful of shops. It was developed in the early 80ies after the water well received "Bad" (Bath) status. Alongside the wellness, health, and rehab services, lots of golf courses appeared around Bad Griesbach, making it the biggest Golf Resort in Europe. The nature is lovely. If you get the chance, book a hot air balloon ride. It’s a one of a kind experience you won’t forget. The only thing keeping this from a fifth star is that the bathroom in the single room could use some touching up. That’s a very minor complaint, though. Looking forward to going again.

I came for a wellness weekend and found it to be a super cute spot. The ambiance was amazing and the meals were delicious. I can definitely recommend it.

The golf course was the highlight for me: it winds through nature, has sweeping views in every direction, and was in excellent shape, with perfect greens and really good service. It would be a great place to spend a weekend, especially since you can stay overnight too. We also had lunch and were very happy with the food and fair prices. The setting is amazing, with a fantastic view. A must.
