Hotel & Restaurant Lindenhof

We booked a family room for two adults and two teenagers through jochen Schweizer. When we arrived, the reception area smelled awful, and they gave us the key to a box room with barely enough space to walk around the bed. We complained, and they said there was a technical issue and they'd put in a spare bed, with one of the kids sleeping in our bed. We refused. I contacted Jochen Schweizer right away, but they couldn't help and said we had to complain in writing. The hotel then said they'd arrange a different Appartement. While we went for a nice walk in the woods, they sorted that out. We ate when we got back, though calling it a meal is generous. It was awful: the soup tasted only of salt, and the main course looked like one serving split between two people. Then we got the key to the other apartment, away from the hotel. We were shocked; it looked like it hadn't been renovated since the 1960s. We tried to sleep there, but it was the worst night's sleep we've ever had. The fruit at breakfast the next morning was old and moldy. We'd had enough and went home. This was in October 2018. Other reviews made it look like the same thing was still happening to families, so I wanted to warn people before they wasted their time and money traveling here.

Everyone was so kind and caring, and always ready to help. We loved the food and drinks, and the place itself is beautiful. Thank you all so much! - Randy

We had booked and paid through Booking, with our arrival time listed as 19-20. When we got to the hotel at 19:30, there was nobody at reception. I called the number on the reservation; it rang and then the call was cut off. Repeated calls got no answer. About half an hour later, the owner called and said they wouldn't accommodate us. I explained that we had already paid through Booking, but was told, “No, I will not give you accommodation after 18:00. Go away!” and then the call ended. We had paid 170 euros for a stay we never received and had to spend the night in our car. We're now in contact with Booking and trying to get our money back. I felt really sad and disappointed by the way we were treated. I strongly don't recommend making a reservation at this hotel.

The location is lovely and peaceful, and our room was really pretty.
