The service was good, but the rooms felt worn and the price was too high. This certainly didn't feel like a three-star place.

We were greeted so warmly and everyone was helpful. The rooms are dated, though they were very clean, and we could safely leave our bikes in the garden shed. Breakfast was delicious.

The owner was friendly and accommodating, but that doesn't make me understand the three-star ratings. The reception area smelled strongly of dogs, and the rooms were old and rustic, if functional. The hallway was much too dark and felt like a haunted house. It badly needs renovating. If comfort isn't a big concern, it may be okay, but I strongly advise everyone else not to book here.

I started the eastern route through the Black Forest to Schaffhausen from here. The town itself is charming and a little sleepy, with shops, cafes, an ice cream parlor, and a lovely outdoor pool all within walking distance. My room was basic but spotless, and I got a really personal, warm welcome with useful tips about the region.
