Best Western Premier Parkhotel Bad Mergentheim

This was my fifth stay in eight years, and the service seems to get worse each time. The rooms are medium to large, and it's mostly quiet, but the cleaning staff are noisy in the mornings. Breakfast has fewer choices than it did 6-8 years ago. There are only three hot meat options, all pork, which I can't eat for health reasons. For eggs, it's just hard-boiled every day and a rubbery baked or steamed egg with no milk. The sweet baked choices are limited too, just a plain croissant and a muffin-like cake without cream at first. They could vary the eggs from day to day, such as hard-boiled, soft-boiled, or sunny-side up. In the evenings, the dining area, lobby, and lifts fill with a horrible, possibly poisonous propane smell. It seems they use the gas to keep the buffet dishes warm, and breathing it can't be good. There wasn't a bathrobe in my room. When I asked for one, I was told I'd have to pay €5 to rent it. I was shocked, especially at this Best Western Premier. There were no slippers either, though I didn't ask for any. Maybe they sell them? 🤔 Room cleaning and towel changes are no longer provided unless you request them a day ahead.

The pool and sauna were easy and convenient to use, with extra towels supplied for each room. My room was clean and quiet, with a lovely view of the park, and the town centre was an easy walk away. Staff were always friendly and helpful. I appreciated the hotel's steps toward sustainability, including room cleaning by request through the in-room tablets. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets had plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes, and even the coffee had plant-based milk. I had a perfect stay and can really recommend the hotel.

The breakfast was heavenly, with loads of fresh choices: six kinds of milk and lots of breads. Don't miss the carrot bun. The hotel is lovely too, beside a beautiful park in a peaceful spot, and the staff are friendly.

The grounds are beautiful, and the hotel is close to the town centre and several other hotels. The included breakfast was very good, served in a lovely room with a fish pond just outside. Service was very good too, and the staff spoke fluent English. Parking costs extra, though there's plenty of it. But this is an old, updated hotel with no air conditioning. After a long day in 87-degree heat, the room felt outdated, and open windows didn't let me sleep because of the noise. The blankets were synthetic, and the Wi-Fi didn't work at all. The room was quite large by European standards, but with things missing or not working, it didn't feel like a 5-star hotel.
