Dagmar and Emin (Baba) make you feel like family, and the family-run service has gone well beyond what a chain hotel would do to help me, whether with a recommendation, directions, advice on getting around, or something for the room. I've been coming for years, and the rates are competitive. It's in a lovely, quiet small town, about 20 minutes by car from downtown Hannover or 30-40 by train. You can book a standard room or a small apartment with what you need for a longer stay. There's also an in-house restaurant open at night, with breakfast available if ordered ahead, plus meeting rooms for rent. If accommodating service and a comfortable stay matter to you, this place works really well.

The town is pretty, small, and quiet, with a few other restaurants around, though I could happily eat at Babas almost all week. The Turkish restaurant there is excellent, and you can keep beer in the apartment fridge and eat in instead of cooking. The kitchen has enough equipment for a stay of a few weeks and making many of your own meals. The aparthotel room is spacious, with two balconies big enough for two people to sit out with a drink in the evening. Everyone, from the owners to the staff, is really friendly and can speak English if needed. This is where I'll stay whenever I'm in the area for business. Just remember that many places observe “Sonntag ist ruhetag,” so arrange your check-in time ahead if you're arriving Sunday.

For getting into the city, the train is the better choice over a taxi. This is a great three-star hotel, with everything you need in the room and lovely service from the hospitality team.

A family-owned hotel with friendly people, and a Greek restaurant on site. The room also had a kitchenette and living area. It's very clean and handy for getting around, just a block from the park and promenade.
