The breakfast was great, and the hotel was clean and peaceful. We spent a few days in Bad Sachsa with the whole family and felt at home in this welcoming place. The hosts were very friendly, and it’s dog-friendly, which was a big plus for us. The surroundings are beautiful, and we’d love to return. A more stable Wi-Fi connection would be appreciated 😉

The Sonnenhof Hotel is very nice and in a perfect location for people with dogs, but I wish the owner had been more honest with us beforehand. We spent New Year’s Eve there with our very anxious dog because the Harz Mountains were advertised online as free of fireworks due to being a national park. I contacted the hotel in advance and got written confirmation that there would be no fireworks at the hotel, and that they’d only be set off in the lower village. That wasn’t true. Fireworks began to the right and left of the hotel as early as December 29, terrifying our dog. On New Year’s Eve they continued from 4:00 PM until 3:30 AM, and we had the worst New Year’s Eve ever with our panicked dog. If we’d known, we never would have gone. It’s such a shame that it became a horror trip for us.

The people working here are so lovely and friendly. We came with our dog and got a warm welcome, and breakfast was varied and thoughtfully prepared. I highly recommend the hotel.
