Hotel Rosengarten

The room we got in Villa Germania was old, with a dirty carpet, street noise, and cold air coming through the windows. We’d booked through Booking.com after choosing hotel Rosengarten, but only found out after I’d paid that they had moved us to another building 100m away. There was no notice about this. I read other reviews saying they do this regularly, and several guests were extremely angry. They advertise high speed internet, but it was about 10Mbits. Check-in took roughly 30 minutes. The receptionist was extremely slow, answering several phone calls while I waited, and I had to argue about being moved. This felt like cheating and an unprofessional way to treat people. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

My complaint was that the heating wasn’t working, and they told me to leave the hotel just for raising it. The staff were terrible and shouldn’t be working in a hotel. The owner was little better, a mean old guy. This was probably the worst hotel experience I’ve had in my life, one of the worst hotels in Germany. I’d tell anyone to stay elsewhere in town, pay another €20-30, and get a decent hotel. I learned that the hard way.

We booked a room at rosengarten, but had no idea we’d be sent to a different building, which seemed older than the original hotel. The room smelled really bad and was dirty. All night we had to put up with a toilet sewer smell. There were crumbs on the table and in the bed, dirt on the carpet, and bits of paper on the floor. The toilet hadn’t been cleaned either, and someone’s body hair was still inside. You can see it in the picture. The furniture was old and poorly cared for, and the bed linen was old and already yellowed. The whole building needs a thorough clean and renovation. It was simply disgusting. Luckily my husband and I only spent one night there, and we’ll never return. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, especially at this price!

The suite was very nice and cozy, with a bathroom that was big enough and looked quite new. The rooms were clean and the staff very friendly. Just note that there’s no elevator in the side building.
